This article is discussing whether or not Green Enterprises will survive our recent economic downfall - and for that matter will any company or enterprise survive it. The exhibition floor of Abu Dhabi's World Future Energy Summit is one of the largest green enterprises in the world. Over 16,000 visitors came to the summit, that's nearly half more than the previous year. They are actually grossing in sales, rather than losing sales like most of America's economy. "The current financial crisis has absolutely no impact on our planned projects," says Sultan Ahmed Al Javer, Masdar's imposing CEO.
In reality, the whole economic turndown hasn't left the alternative energy enterprises untouched. Developers here say that financing for new things remain all but frozen, stopping plans in the U.S. and Europe to expand clean power. The winderhill new energy index, or the fund that tracks teh stock performance of clean tech companies, is down more than 60% since its peak in November of 2007.
So, even though "green" enterprises are doing very well, it does not mean this economic crisis that our country has been going through doesn't affect it at all. It just affects it less.
